Bad Wiessee is a spa town on Lake Tegernsee, Bavaria, Germany.The name Bad stands for "spa" or "baths", while Wiessee derives from "West See", meaning "western part of the lake".
Bad Wiessee is known for its healing sulfur-fountain. Because of its quiet and its situation at the north side of the Alps many people spend their holidays there.
Bad Wiessee is also notorious as the scene of the key events within the Night of the Long Knives, June 30, 1934, when Hitler and the SS purged the leadership of the SA, many of whom were staying at the resort.
